| It's
pouring rain outside making for a warm and humid room inside The
Plough & Stars tonight, but that might be due to Pete Cassani
who is in
the middle of a death defying solo as I come out of the rain. With
a
stripped down drum set, bass, and guitar, The Peasants unload three
sets
of rock 'like George Thorogoodn' roll for a paltry $3 cover. And it
is
definately a wide range of rock 'n' roll with The Peasants. Just about
every style is represented. Hard rock like AC/DC, folk rock like Bob
Dylan, pop rock like Joan Osbourne, classic rock like the Rolling
Stones, punk rock like The Buzzcocks, as well as rockabilly, garage,
blues and alt-country. The second set is decidedly heavier than the
first set and it is full of songs that stick in your head like "I
Get So
Excited," which can be heard being hummed through the room after
the
song ends. The set is indicative of exactly what The Peasants do best
-
fun garage rock 'n' roll. Sometimes sad, sometimes bitter, sometimes
smart and sometimes fun, The Peasants are always a good deal.
